LONG TERM STORAGE

To minimize ozone and gas fading caused by air pollutants, especially along folded edges, store dry natural dyed yarn/fabric in plastic/paper bags with the air pressed out and mouth folded over. Store bags in opaque cartons or boxes in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight.

KEEP AWAY FROM
    Rust:
  • Rust, bare corrodible steel and iron compounds can stain natural dyed yarn/fabric black, especially if moist
  • Water containing iron can sadden shade
Articles with low quality metallic finish:
  • Low quality electroplated articles and metallized objects can discolour moist natural dyed yarn/fabric
  • Imitation and metallic zari can blemish natural dyed fabric
    Extensive changes in pH:
  • Soaking in and washing with alkaline hard water, soaps, cheap bar detergents or strong powder detergents will result in change of shade
  • Acid spillages will cause discolouration
  • Exposure to heavy acid perspiration (less than pH 4.5) may cause discolouration of certain shades
    Bleaching agents:
  • Soaking in bleaching solutions and washing with detergents containing bleaches will lighten shade
  • Prolonged exposure to chlorinated swimming pool water can bleach colour
  • Long term exposure to atmosphere polluted with oxidizing gases such as ozone and nitrogen oxides (NOx) will result in fading of colour
    High SPM:
  • Collars and cuffs can stain brown to black in environment with high airborne Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM)
